Department servers

Network services provided by the department include email, web, filesystem, backup, DNS, DHCP, wireless, routing, remote-access, and firewall. These services are provided by a wide range of machines including sun enterprise servers, cisco switches, extreme networks switches, and PCs running FreeBSD. Servers that you are likely to need are:

www.cs.rpi.edu		Department webserver. User web pages are available via http://www.cs.rpi.edu/~USERID
ftp.cs.rpi.edu		Department ftp server -- Use of this server is largely deprecated in favor of other utilities like scp and http, and thus only accepts anonymous logins. But for some things you still cannot beat a good ole fashioned ftp server, and there it is.
